Attainment of Peace (of individual & society) was the real intent of history-writing in India. The epics were written keeping this lofty aim in mind. Modern history writing is in start contrast with this ancient Indian tradition.
Before conversion to either Christianity or Islam, India’s tribes (vanavasis) were a peaceful lot. They co-existed peacefully with the mainstream Hindus. Once they got converted they view the Hindus as their enemies…….
Ahimsa is the rock foundation of Indian Civilisation. Indian Hindu Civilisation tries to make one, aware of himsa one is forced to do and its impact on own life. Himsa makes one fettered and Hindu thinking and action is directed towards breaking-off the fetters and attaining real liberation.
ഇന്ത്യയുടെ യുദ്ധമര്യാദകൾ ഗ്രീക്ക് ചരിത്രകാരന്മാരുടെ ഭാവന കവരുകയും അവരുടെ രചനകളിൽ ഇടംപിടിയ്ക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിരുന്നു. ഇതിനും പുറമെ ഇന്ത്യൻ കൃഷിക്കാരുടെ ഭയരഹിതമായ ജീവിതത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും നന്മകളെക്കുറിച്ചും ഗ്രീക്ക് ചരിത്രകാരന്മാർ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തി.
പക്ഷെ പിന്നീട് വന്ന അധിനിവേശക്കാരായ അന്യമതക്കാരായ അധർമ്മികളായ മുഹമ്മദ്ദീയർ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ യുദ്ധമര്യാദകൾ കാറ്റിൽപ്പറത്തി. ഇത് അവരുടെ യുദ്ധവിജയങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു കാരണമായി കരുതാം.
Indians never invaded and colonised other countries. One the other hand none of the foreigners tried to invade India. The first such attempt was made by Alexander from Greece.
But he too did not conquer India ….
